Looking to learn more about rapid microbial enumeration and the benefits of the Growth Direct™ System? On October 21st and 22nd, Rapid Micro Biosystems will be presenting at the Parental Drug Association's 8th Annual Global Conference on Pharmaceutical Microbiology in Bethesda, Maryland. Attendees will get a hands-on look at the Growth Direct™ System, as well as plenty of helpful information on the practical application of rapid and automatic methods. Here's what visitors can expect from Rapid Micro Biosystems exhibits:
Sample Growth Direct™ System
On both Monday and Tuesday, Rapid Micro will have a mockup of the Growth Direct™ System set up at Booth 31 in the main Exhibit Hall. In addition to the instrument itself, we'll showcase the different sample cassettes used for water and bioburden, sterility testing and environmental monitoring. Visitors will be able to gain hands-on experience using these cassettes with the same sampling procedures as the manual method – no new training required!
Validation, Valuation and ROI
For microbiologists who need to know more about the business and regulatory aspects of rapid methods, Rapid Micro Biosystems will also cover valuation and validation in an Exhibit Hall poster presentation. Displays will explain the bottom-line benefits of Growth Direct, which include:
- Faster enumerations
- Fewer OOS investigations
- Improved labor efficiency
- Reduced times to market
The poster presentation will also explain the process of validating the Growth Direct™ System for both US-based and foreign regulatory agencies. Regulators have thus far appreciated the similarity of the system to the compendial method. New Growth Direct™ System users can successfully validate the method through a relatively straightforward and efficient process.
Finally, on Monday from 9:15 to 10:00 AM, David Jones, PhD, Director of Technical Services at Rapid Micro Biosystems, will present the poster and discuss the often delicate process of appealing to executives and other stakeholders. While rapid enumeration has proven useful for quality control personnel, high-level decision-makers don't always understand the far-reaching benefits of the technology. For most organizations, executive buy-in requires a carefully planned set of presentations and a thorough knowledge of long-term ROI.
Lean Laboratory Concepts
In addition to these Growth Direct presentations, Rapid Micro Biosystems will be featured in a breakout session called “Lean Laboratory Concepts and Continuous Improvement in the Microbiology Laboratory” on Monday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Kevin Walsh, Rapid Micro Biosystems Technical Services Manager, will further discuss the cost- and labor-saving benefits of automated colony counting. Lean concepts have long been a staple of manufacturing and those methods can be applied in a lab environment. Kevin’s discussion will revolve around the complimentary role of automation to Lean in the laboratory and the practical savings that can be achieved.
Kevin, David and other members of the Rapid Micro Biosystems team will also be available at Booth 31 throughout the conference. We hope to see you there! For more information, contact us today.
