Level II Technical Project Manager

Job Description

Rapid is looking for a technical project manager with 5+ years of experience in technical project management to drive the creation of new technology and design improvements.  You will work closely with systems engineering managing projects that include software, hardware, optics and biology.  Using the company’s product development process, you will track progress and look for opportunities to ensure stage gates and critical milestones are met.  More important, you will bring to the table both a passion for what you do and a curious mind for all things technical.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop plans, schedules, budgets, deliverables, and resource requirements by reviewing project proposals and/or user requirement documents for cross-functional projects
  • Drive cross-functional project teams from start to finish
  • Identify project risks and develop risk mitigation plans
  • Develop schedule, work breakdown structures, and identify critical path
  • Work with systems engineers to create functional block diagram and create interface requirements for the major sub-assemblies
  • Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems
  • Ensure projects follow company product development process and required deliverables
  • Prepare for and conduct project phase gate reviews
  • Oversee and ensure all project deliverables are met
  • Conduct routine project meeting, capture and follow up on meeting action items
  • Create and maintain dashboards for communicating to the senior leadership team
  • For more focused projects (that can be largely executed by one group), work with that group to ensure they are developing plans consistent with the appropriate development process

Position Requisites

  • B.S. Degree in ME, SE, or EE engineering disciplines
  • 5+ years managing technical projects
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects
  • Experience with systems engineering preferred.
  • PMP certification a plus
  • Familiarity with ISO-9001 and/or 13485 a plus
  • Experience with MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Project
  • Ability to work cross-functionally
  • Excellent written and oral communication
