The Growth Direct system® features proprietary consumables designed to facilitate high-throughput automated handling and image processing. Test results are produced faster and more accurately than with the traditional method of MQC testing. The cassette format has been optimized and tested for both ease-of-operator use and system throughput.
No reagents are needed for sample analysis. Positive samples continue to incubate so that final colony units (CFUs) can be analyzed and sent for microbial identification without regrowth steps that waste critical time.
Media-filled cassettes are produced in controlled cleanroom environments, then irradiated to ensure high quality and long shelf life. Once the cassettes are loaded into the Growth Direct System, colony imaging, counting, and data recording are all handled automatically. Cassettes cannot be removed or tampered with without generating an auditable record of actions by an operator.
Each cassette is delivered labeled with a unique 2D identifier barcode. There is room for a system-generated, customer-applied label with an additional 2D barcode for sample identification.
Consumables are comprised of media and materials used in traditional compendium methods, which simplifies validation. Consumables for Environmental Monitoring Industry-standard media is available: Tryptic Soy Agar (TSA) with Lecithin, Polysorbate 80 (LP80) and TSA with LP80HT (histidine and thiosulphate).
Industry-standard media is available: R2 Agar (R2A) for water testing, Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (SDA) for yeasts and molds, and Tryptic Soy Agar (TSA) for general product testing.
